Commander in Chief, Sons of Confederate Veterans—
Compatriots,
I am announcing my candidacy for Commander in Chief of the Sons of Confederate Veterans to be elected this summer at our Reunion in Concord North Carolina. Usually when Compatriots announce for office, they will state that they have consulted with family and friends, prayed on the matter and been encouraged to run. All this is true in my situation as well. But the main reason I have decided to enter the race is the same reason I have run for the other offices I have held. That is- there are things that I would like to see done, actions taken and programs started that would be a benefit to the SCV and of fulfilling the Charge. Furthermore, I believe that I have the necessary experience, knowledge and skills to carry out these goals.
Some of the goals are as follows:
1. to start erecting more Flags and Monuments that we own and control
2. to immediately put our planning for the sesquicentennial inmotion
3. to begin long range planning for our own museum
4. to develop better ways to get our message out by use of technology
5. to place more focus on youth recruiting.
I joined the Lt. Gen. Richard Taylor Camp 1308 in May of 1994. I have served the Compatriots of the SCV at all levels- camp, brigade, division and national. As a Division Commander I gained knowledge and experience on successfully administering the work of the SCV and implementing actions to reach our goals. As National Chief of Staff of the SCV (and currently ATM Councilman) I have gained a greater understanding of the “big picture”. I understand that throughout the Confederation divisions and camps have their unique challenges as well as the ones we all have in common.
I invite you read more details on these goals and my experience at my campaign website
www.mcmichael-la.comMy vision for the SCV is optimistic. My conviction is that the best days of our proud organization are ahead of us! All of us working together to fulfill the Charge is a force to be reckoned with! Our ancestors did not fight for themselves; they fought for their families and their values so that future generations would inherit a proud birthright. They fought for us and our children. We should do no less. It is our glorious duty to see that future generations of Southerners have the knowledge and the means to celebrate the honorable Heritage of the Confederate Soldier.
I ask for your support in our march to victory. Please feel free to contact me with comments and suggestions at

Army of Trans-Mississippi Commander—
Gentlemen of the SCV,
This is to formally announce my intention to seek the office of Commander of the Army of Trans Mississippi Dept of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Having spoken with many active SCV members across the Confederation over the past months, I made the decision to run after receiving many pledges of support from all levels of our organization.
From my experience as Louisiana Division Commander and in addition to other positions of responsibility that I have held within our organization, I firmly believe I have something solid and beneficial to offer as your next Commander of the ATM. I intend to visit with as many of you as possible in the next few months to explain in-person my SCV service experience, my plan of action for the future and why I am confident in my ability to be in a leadership position of the organization we love and cherish.
In the meantime, if any of you wish to contact me, feel free to do so at the following

Army of Trans-Mississippi Councilman—
Gentlemen of the A r m y o f T r a n s - Mississippi ,
In the pursuit of establishing and maintaining a strong SCV at the National level, we must continue to elect strong men of character, integrity, and sense of duty to serve in our National positions. For the past few years, we, as the Sons of Confederate Veterans, have been on a positive road in our endeavor to uphold the Charge of Stephen D . Lee . After giving it much thought, I have decided to stand for the position of Army of Trans-Mississippi Councilman at our National Reunion in Concord , NC, 2008 .
Many of you know of my service in the SCV. For those that do not, or have forgotten, I have posted past positions below. If you want to send a representative of the ATM with proven experience to the General Executive Council to represent YOU,
I ask for your support in 2008.
